This is one of the rare losses I have suffered at Red Hot Pawn. Well, I have lost 40 games out of the 229 games I have played there, it is quite rare in my opinion. The game below was played in the 2014 August Grand Seven Fourteen III tournament against a player who is currently leading the tournament with his 112 points. As he has already played all his games, he can't gain more points and the current second who is at the moment at 98 points can overtake him as his maximum possible score is 116. I am currently fourth but have chances of taking the third place and some very little chances for second place finish. Hmm, when I resigned this game I thought I was completely lost but the engine thinks that I am only slightly worse... Maybe I should from now on play until it is clearly forced mate or something because I have seem to resign in positions where I might have had some hope and agreed to a draw in a position where I am clearly better. I guess I do not understand chess in a way I thought. Or maybe the engine is wrong, I mean there was some positions that I analysed with my previous engine and did not agree with the analysis at all. Luckily I do not play games where using the engine during the game is allowed because I would go insane because of it. I would look at the positions as long as I could to make some sense of them and tried to find the best move. I have added one mate in one, one mate in two, two mate in three and one mate in four puzzle today.
The blog features analysed games of mine, consisting of chess, chess960 and 3 check. There are also puzzles that you can solve by moving the pieces on the board and the solution can be checked by using the engine provided by the ChessBase's publishing tool. All games and puzzles can be downloaded for free!
